What is origami?
Origami is an art of paper folding from Japan. It is a sublime combination oflogic, art and magic. With one piece of square paper, the convergence of beauty will be formed. Some peoplemight have heard about paper cranes as one form of origami, but origami is much more than that.Moving along with the time, origami develops from some basic traditional shapes such as origami Cranes, flowersinto ahigh level artform that can conquer any shapes in the world. Technology plays a big role in origami's innovation because a software named "Treemaker" is created to design any structures that the artists want to make.No burden can stop origami artists to satisfy their desire to express every architecture on paper. However, the innovation of origami does not mean the shape of classical origami is not attractive anymore. Each origami contains the beauty of logic, geometry and art, no matter when it was created. That is why throughout decades, origami has never stopped surprising and attracting more and more people to come to the sublime culture. Origami is possible for everyone. No matter the audience, the time, or place, Origami will appeal to all people because of its beauty and uniqueness.
By the way, Who Am i?
My name is Trang Pham, a 16-year old girl from Vietnam. Currently, I am an international student in the USA . Origami has always been my passion, and I enjoy giving origami I make to everyone around me. Coming to America has allowed me to use my hobby in a more meaningful way. My family, my friends, and especially my guardian have helped and encouraged me greatly in starting this business. It is thanks to the spirit and opinions of those who know about my passion that I have been able to start this business. I am really blessed.
2016 marks the start of Origami Smiles, and a very important chapter in my life. The art of folding paper has taught me how to be patient and precise because making origami icredibly is time-consuming. However, despite the length of time it takes, the finished product is always worth it. Loving Origami has led me to love science and math. Even though they seem different, there are many similarities in the process and logic. The more patience I gain through making origami, the more I want to solve a math problem no matter how long it takes. The more times I fold and unfold one origami, the more I want to focus on one science experiment no matter how many trials I have to do again and again. Everything has an answer and a reason that can be discovered through hard work and perseverance. I will continue Origami Smiles throughout my college years and beyond because I want to grow the buisness domestically and internationally so it will not only be a place for donating and selling origami but also to spread my passion for origami.
Why did I choose origami?
As a math lover, I learned through origami how beautiful math can be and that math is not simply limited to numbers and symbols. For me, origami is another way for me to sharpen my mathmatic skills.
When I was 10 years old, I was impressed by the story of Sadako, a Japanese girl who became very sick from the radition caused by the Hiroshima Bomb. She folded origami paper cranes for her dream of peace. Instead of waiting day by day in pain, Sadako chose to keep hoping and make her own wish by folding 1000 paper cranes, as an old Japanese legend state that one wish can be carried up to the sky by a thousand of origami cranes. There are many different endings, but nobody is sure if Sadako made the 1000 cranes or not. However, her story has a strong impact on people around the world because each of the paper cranes that she made contains hope of peace, honor and love. Therefore, origami becomes more than just an art of paper folding; it is a symbol of hope, love, and peace. The fact that origami has connected people together and made people happy is undeniable. Origami Smiles came from my wish to make the world a happy place; This time, I will let Origami to spread my dream.
